About Sankofa

Go back and get what matters.
Carry it forward.

That is the teaching inside the name Sankofa, and it is how we build everything.

Sankofa exists because too many people are asked to fit systems that were never built with them in mind. So we design and deliver structured community interventions across employment, youth development, wellbeing, mentoring, and capacity building.

We are a multidisciplinary community programs and support services organisation based in Adelaide. We deliver evidence informed, outcomes focused community programs, support services, and capacity building initiatives, driving toward social inclusion, physical wellbeing, and economic independence.

We bring culture, story, and lived experience into every program. Sankofa is led by people who have experience within the sectors and are leaders in it. And we build around capability, identity, and ambition: what people bring, never only what they face.

Programs

Four ways in.
One direction forward.

Whether you arrive alongside a community organisation, as a young person, through a school, or through the NDIS, the goal is the same: real skills, real belonging, and a real path to what comes next. Open an area to see its programs, who they serve, and how to refer.

But numbers are only part of the story.

We walk alongside the people we serve, not ahead of them, not behind them.
The stories behind these numbers belong to the people who lived them. Participant journeys and case studies are shared with consent, in partner reporting and in person.
For partners

Built with partners, not around them.

Whether you commission programs, fund them, or deliver beside us, there is a clear way in. We would rather partner than duplicate.

Commissioned programs with defined outcomes, measurable delivery, and clear reporting for government and funding partners.

Safeguarding & governance

Safe by design. Accountable by default.

We work with young people, families, and people experiencing barriers. That carries obligations we take seriously, and structure ourselves around.

Child safe practice

Programs involving young people are designed and delivered in line with child safe principles: clear boundaries, safe environments, and young people heard and taken seriously.

Screened people

Our people hold current Working with Children Checks and relevant worker screening clearances before they step into any program.

Documented policies

Safeguarding, code of conduct, incident response, privacy and confidentiality. Documented, reviewed, and available to commissioning partners.

Incident response

Concerns are recorded, escalated through clear reporting lines, and reported to the appropriate bodies. Nothing sits in a drawer.

Measured and reported

Every program tracks outcomes against its framework. Partners receive cohort reporting against employment outcomes and progression readiness.

Entity and accountability

Delivered by KAY2 PTY LTD trading as Sankofa Community Services, ABN 39 699 372 631, with leadership accountable for every program.
