Genuine Bolga Basket - intricately handwoven, these beautiful baskets are synonomous with northern Ghana.

Forget about plastic bags - this stylish shopping basket is what you need.  The U-Shopper design is a "twist" on the traditional round Bolga basket as the basket weavers learn new designs and colour combinations to further develop their export market.

Basket weaving has been a traditional skill of the people of northern Ghana for many years and has been used to supplement their incomes from subsistence farming. These baskets are made by the Havilak co-operative of weavers in and around Bolgatanga. Havilak works in partnership with Fair Trade Global, a danish certified fair trade importer. Fair Trade Global have worked with Havilak since 2002 to deveop the designs, new products and improved quality of their baskets.
